- The origins of the Museum Shop, Ltd. stretch back to 1962, when noted craftsman Laszlo Benczik opened the Benczik Gallery on upper Connecticut Avenue in Washington, DC. At the time, the gallery's specialty was framing and restoration. In 1970, when the White House tapped Mr. Benczik to be their picture framer, he sold the gallery to his apprentice, Richard Kornemann, and Mr. Kornemann's wife, Vicky.
