edit Title
JCBC - Ride with the Johnson County Bicycle Club
edit Description
Club History
The Johnson County Bicycle Club began as an offshoot of the Johnson County Outdoor Society in the late 1960s to promote safe recreational and social cycling. The club originally was a part of the Johnson County Parks and Recreation Department. Seeking independence, the club became a separate entity in 1973.
Early club members numbered about 30. The popularity of the annual "Cider Mill Century" increased membership, which now totals nearly 350 riders.
JCBC Today
JCBC is strictly a recreational cycling club, and is not involved in racing events. The club sponsors three annual pay rides of up to 100 miles. In addition, quarterly club socials feature speakers and topics ranging from slide shows of members' vacation tours to demonstrations of new cycling equipment to talks on nutrition, safety and advocacy.
