Jamie's Country Soaps ~ Handmade Soaps made the old fashion way!! Lotion, Milk Bath, Scented Room Sprays, Gifts, Wholesale

Description

ingredients. Each batch of soap is hand poured into a wooden (or other) mold until it is set, then it is hand cut and trimmed, which gives it a nice country look and feel. My soap is then left to cure to perfection. When fully cured and ready to use, a piece of gingham fabric is tied around each bar and a handmade label is attached.

I started out making melt and pour soap years ago. It was so much fun, but I really wanted more. I felt like it wasn't really "my" soap, after all, I was just melting someone else's soap and adding the fragrance and color, which isn't bad, but I am the "do it yourself" type person and I like to make things from scratch. I felt for sure that I wouldn't be able to make something so difficult as homemade soap, with the lye and all that stuff. I checked out some books from the library (which by the way, were kept long overdue, I didn't want to give them back LOL), I did lots of research on the internet, learned quite a bit. I finally bought the supplies needed to make my first batch of soap, using lye, water and lard. My first batch was horrible, it looked like a crumbly mass of soap all mashed together (I still have it, might just post a pic here someday). I was bound and determined not to give up now. So, after several more batches, recipes, trial and errors, I learned to make soap!!

I have done research on the different types of oils and butters and have learned which ones are the best for the skin. Each oil I use has a specific purpose in the soap that I make. You can learn more about the oils and butters that I use here. I continually worked on perfecting my recipe until I found just the right feel for my soap. I like a nice hard bar, and I like my skin to feel soft and moisturized, not dry and flaky. I also like my soap to smell really good. Our family will never go back to store bought soap again and I imagine that when you try handmade soaps, you will feel the same way.
