I studied drawing and painting at Edinburgh College of Art during the 1960's and after a successful teaching career both in Fife and Edinburgh I made a decision to stop teaching and in 1999 began to paint full-time. I have since exhibited widely and show in both public and private galleries in Scotland and England.
There is a great diversity in my work and I am interested in the genre of still life, landscape and abstract paintings. As with many Scottish artists, travelling, especially to warmer climes gives me great inspiration and helps to counteract the sombreness of Scottish buildings and landscapes. Portuguese windows, white villages in Andalucia and Venetian facades all excite my love of colour and texture. However, hillsides and seascapes closer to home are never far from my view.
