Title

Jerry Kindall: Once Upon a Time on the Web

Description

Though I live in the Seattle area now, I'm a midwestern boy at heart. I was born in Ohio and grew up in and around Columbus. I've been a misfit and a geek all my life. In high school, I majored in misanthropy. Bulletin boards and the Internet changed my outlook for the better. After graduating college in 1990, I moved to Detroit, and in 2000 I came to the Emerald City, or actually a suburb thereof. It's a truly wonderful place to live; I never want to leave.

I'm now in my middle thirties, and I was such an idiot just a few short years ago. But then, it's been my experience so far that no matter how old I get, I was always an idiot a few years ago.

I have been writing professionally since 1989, when my first article was published in a small Apple II programming journal. Later, I wrote user manuals for many Apple II and Macintosh products from Quality Computers, and served as Editor In Chief of II Alive, the last "slick" Apple II magazine. After leaving Quality, I freelanced for five years under the brand Manual Labor, and did contract technical writing for clients such as id Software, Bare Bones Software, Wise Solutions, and Microsoft. I also wrote a book on Web animation techniques for Waite Group Press.
