Cojay Resale Enterprises was established in 1996.on a shoestring budget and with a desire to provide 20th century modern furnishings, collectibles, and accessories at affordable prices. Company owner, Jay Katz first started selling items out of his home, then graduated to flea markets, group antique shops, and in 1999 opened is first store, called "The Resale Emporium". At first The Resale Emporium offered a wide selection of vintage furnishings and antiques, but gradually Jay acquired a more defined taste for items of mid-modern design and started to focus the scope of the business towards items designed and produced during the pre WW II and post WW II era, the 1930's through the 1960's. This continues to be the main area of specialization for the company. In addition to selling vintage items via traditional retail channels, Jay started selling on the internet right from the company's inception, mainly listing auctions on eBay. Prior to going into the antiques business, Jay had been a computer consultant and programmer for over 16 years so selling on the internet was a natural progression for the business to take. The Resale Emporium closed in mid 2000 but now Jay has opened a new retail outlet, The Retro Haven, in Bristol, CT.
The Retro Haven is three times larger than the The Resale Emporium was and is conveniently located an easy 2 hour drive from either metropolitan New York City or downtown Boston. With over 2,500 sq feet of floor space, The Retro Haven can offer a wide selection of merchandise to the discerning mid-modern dealer, designer, or collector. In addition, with the launching of this website, jgretro.com, those of you who cannot pay a personal visit to our showroom can still acquire those special items you seek from the comfort of your own home or personal workspace.
PAYMENT: Currently Personal Checks, Cashier's Checks, Wire Transfers, and Postal Service Money Orders are accepted.for payment. Personal checks must clear prior to shipment of merchandise. Credit Cards will be accepted within a month or so.
