Description
On May 15, 1993 Joseph Matteucci, a seventeen year old junior attending Castro Valley High School, died from the result of senseless act of violence. In 1994 Alexandra Matteucci founded the Joseph Matteucci Foundation in honor of her son. The Joseph Matteucci foundation for Youth Nonviolence, is a 501-C3 nonprofit foundation.
Since his death, Alexandra has dedicated her life to creating and funding nonviolence programs for young people, and continues to discuss these issues with students in middle schools, high schools, juvenile detention centers, second chance programs, colleges and county jails.
Alexandra Matteucci has reached out to many students, parents and coaches. She has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, as well as various radio and television programs. She speaks about the JMF youth programs and motivating young people to break the cycle of violence in sport and in life.
