Indeed, the plain facts would seem to bear him out. He entered university in the late sixties to study geophysics, abandoned that to become an anti-establishment, though critically-acclaimed painter, and finally turned his back on that to create art that uses the latest technologies in place of the artist's traditional tools, a pioneering development that has brought him honors worldwide.
