- Joe Compel Reptiles has been long in the making. My interest in reptiles and amphibians began at a young age. I spent my summers stomping through the woods looking for frogs, turtles, lizards and snakes. Come to think of it, I still spend most of my summers stomping through the woods looking for frogs, turtles, lizards and snakes. Luckily, I have a job where I am able to continue enjoying my hobby. During most of the year, I teach eighth-grade science. I have a B.S. degree in Environmental Science. Taking courses in genetics and biology have given me a strong science background, which helps me in my career and also links back to my hobby…breeding ball pythons.
