Mr. Schmid has more than twenty years of appellate, motions practice, and briefing experience. He has legal experience as a federal appellate law clerk, a state trial law clerk, and a Deputy District Attorney. He recently served as the research and writing specialist for the Fortune 500 South Texas corporate defense firm of Rodriguez, Colvin, Chaney & Saenz. Mr. Schmid enjoyed the privilege of working closely with Mr. Eduardo Rodriguez, Mr. Mitchell Chaney, Mr. Jaime Saenz and other talented partners and associates on numerous cases.
In addition to having served the attorneys of Rodriguez, Colvin, Chaney & Saenz, Mr. Schmid also serves in the capacity as of counsel to various attorneys of the Texas Bar in Cameron County. For the past nearly two years, Mr. Schmid has served as of counsel to Mr. Joe Valle of Brownsville.
Based on the deposition, discovery, and MSJ briefing by Mr. Schmid, Joe Valle was able to negotiate a settlement of 1.75 million dollars in a wrongful death action (Cepeda v. LaQuay; Cameron County; 404th) in December, 2005. Last summer (2005), the deposition work of Mr. Schmid positioned Mr. Valle to obtain a three-quarter million settlement against a local business for a pedestrian injury (Maria Ramirez v. Young).
