He moved to Chicago in 1995 and joined the staff of Chicago magazine, where he won numerous writing awards and eventually became the magazine’s executive editor. He has written for Esquire, The New Republic, and The American Prospect. In 2000, he joined the staff of The Wall Street Journal, where he now works as a senior special reporter.
