Joon brings a diverse background to the Advanced Planning Group. As a bilingual Korean American, he obtained his JD degree from Suffolk University Law School and his B.A degree in Sociology from Calvin College.
After Law School, he turned his attention to the blossoming real estate market, guiding various property acquisitions in Boston and DC area for a real estate group until 2005.
Then switching gears, he ventured into the growing Financial Services Industry by becoming a Financial Advisor with AXA Advisors, LLC, and then with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, where he ran an advisory practice for almost 5 years before joining the New York Life family. Joon is currently licensed for Series 7, Series 66, and Health and Life.
In addition, Joon was appointed by then Chairman of Fairfax County, VA and current U.S. Congressman Gerry Connolly, as a Commissioner for the Fairfax County Human Rights Commission, where he investigated matters of discrimination.
Joon currently serves New York Life as an Advanced Planning Consultant. In the current role, he is responsible for supporting the New York Life agents and registered reps nationwide, as they add value to their affluent and business owner clients, in the areas of estate planning, executive benefits, business succession, and Lifetime Wealth Strategies.

I ran an advisory practice for business and/or individual clienteles. As a fully registered Financial Advisor, who also holds the designation of Financial Planning Specialist, I was committed to providing careful attention to all of my clients' financial objectives (offering a full suite of investment services: including asset allocation, private investments, lending services, mergers and acquisition for private businesses with revenues of $20-$200million+, business succession plan/exit strategies, annuities, insurance, cash and portfolio management services, retirement planning, financial planning, education and estate planning, foundation and endowments services, as well as corporate retirement plans). Moreover, as someone who took enormous pride in helping clients achieve their financial goals, I worked hard to earn and maintain their trust.

I believe that helping clients achieve their financial goals begins with completely understanding their needs. Only then I can provide the comprehensive guidance that seeks to answer their most fundamental question: Can I attain my goals?
