Description
I have been enthralled with water and watercraft all of my life. During the early days of my youth, building miniature vessels from whatever resources were at hand, then launching the able little ships in whatever water was nearby; be it a tidepool, a stream, a pond or just a backyard puddle.
Then, as an adult, the years of working as crew on oceanographic research vessels and commercial fishing boats, from crabbers and shrimpers off the Oregon coast to a halibut longliner in the Bering Sea.
Add to this an inquisitive, independent nature and a fascination with the timeless, functional beauty of traditional watercraft and you have the makings of a boatbuilder. The next step was to learn the trade. Apprenticeships in two boat yards and a course of study in boat design launched my career as Jordan Wood Boats.
