Description
The principles of Kanopys Canada introduced the KD Canopy into the Canadian Marketplace in September of 1985. Our vision was to provide an easily portable, one piece, collapsible canopy to the arts and crafts and special event marketplace. The canopies main advertised features at that time was its revolutionary design, ease of use and protection from the elements.
In 1986 Honda Canada saw this product and ordered a number of canopies and bannerpoles for their special event program. The difference was they wanted the Honda Power Equipment and Motor Cycles Logos on them. To our knowledge this was the first custom graphics program on a one-piece collapsible portable canopy in North America. This demand began the evolution of custom graphics program. As the shift from traditional advertising to promotional campaigns gained strength it became clear very quickly that the canopies overriding value would evolve to a travelling billboard that helped build brand recognition for our customers in the special event marketplace.
Early in the game logos were appliqued, or printed on patches then sewn onto the canopies. As the technology of the 90's progressed it became clear that a new means of producing graphics would need to be developed if we were to stay on top of the industry. Clients demanded sharper images and brighter colours without sacrifice to the quality of the product, and the clients wanted the product yesterday.
