About Us
THE WESTWOOD KEHILLA , under the leadership of Rabbi Asher Brander, is a synagogue whose welcoming, non-judgmental character permeates its religious services, classes, lectures, city-wide events, community projects, home hospitality, and monthly communal Shabbat lunches. Learning begins every weekday at 5:30 a.m., with some 20 weekly classes, individualized learning, and counseling, continuing typically through midnight. The Wednesday night Beit Midrash brings together teachers, mentors, and learners in a lively ambience reminiscent of the Old World yeshiva. In addition to three daily minyans, on Shabbat the Kehilla offers both Ashkenazi and Sephardi minyans and provides a full program for children, including an animated question-and-answer session with the Rabbi.
THE LOS ANGELES INTERCOMMUNITY KOLLEL (LINK) , hosted by the Westwood Kehilla, is a diverse Torah learning, teaching, and community-building organization whose core constituencies are college-age youth, couples, young families, and professionals. Hundreds of lives in every Los Angeles Jewish neighborhood have been enriched through LINK’s programs of one-on-one learning and daily and weekly classes given by the Kollel’s rabbis and their wives in addition to many other guest speakers and teachers.
