KIDNEY & UROLOGY FOUNDATION OF AMERICA, INC.: RESEARCH AND PROGRAMS THAT TOUCH PEOPLE
The Kidney & Urology Foundation of America, Inc. is a national, not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping people avoid the debilitating effects of kidney and urologic diseases. Each year some 70 millions Americans, nearly one in four people, suffer the debilitating effects of these diseases. The financial impact is devastating, the impact to the human spirit, immeasurable.
Kidney & Urologic diseases, affecting men, women and children, now represent one of the leading medical crises in this country. The United States Government has deemed many of these disorders to be in epidemic proportion. The Foundation is aggressively focused on care and support of the patient, the concerns of those at risk, and of driving focus on methods of prevention. Through kidney and urologic research, and education we seek to nurture the development of new therapies and to make these and new therapies accessible to those in need. Through our funding of research, medical conferences, and interdisciplinary hospital initiatives, the Kidney & Urology Foundation of America provides the leadership necessary to promote a better understanding of kidney and urologic diseases, as well as their treatments, and possible cures.
Using our programming, education and support the Foundation seeks to improve the quality of life for patients and their families, and to give them a voice. As the patient’s advocate we will lobby on behalf of the rights of the patient to ensure that the highest levels of excellence are maintained in care and that new therapies are accessible. Through our national healthcare initiatives, we seek to influence proper diet and nutrition as a method of prevention in the interest of saving lives.
