Kingdom Cat was born in concept in 1997 by Bob and Peggy Halpin. It was the result of a passion for the sport of snowmobiling and a passion for Arctic Cat Snowmobiles. Bob Halpin has ridden since he was fourteen years old and ridden Arctic Cat snowmobiles for the last thirty-two years. Bob has been snowmobiling in New England and coming to the town of Island Pond since 1990. In 1994 Bob bought a snowmobile camp in nearby Concord, Vermont. A camp he had stayed at for many years and used as a base camp for many snowmobile adventures in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. In 1997 Bob was in his seventeenth year of running his own plumbing business in Massachusetts. Feeling burned out and ready to pursue his life's dream, he and Peggy decided to sell everything they owned in Massachusetts. They bought land in the heart of Island Pond; the site was a perfect location for a snowmobile dealership, which is directly accessible by sled, and later a marine dealership. The location gave the dealership the ability to test a new product as well as test used product in for service. The block Kingdom Cat now occupies in Island Pond was vacant in 1997; it was the site of the former Common Sense Resturaunt, which had burned many years prior. The Halpins purchased the property from Bob Dexter, the owner of the land and Lakefront Motel, directly across the street, and together they designed and built the dealership. During the winter of 1997-1998 the dealership nad been accepted by Arctic Cat, but not with sufficient time to build and inventory the store. Ready to start on a new life adventure though, Bob and Peg opened Kingdom Cat in the winter of 1997 and rented snowmobiles only. This winter they will continue a now seven year tradition of renting new Arctic Cat snowmobiles. Customers are able to ride directly from the store and enter a system with over six thousand miles of trails.

In their six year history Kingdom Cat Corp. has received many awards for the quality of the products and services they offer. They have been named district dealer of the year for Arctic Cat. They have received two Northeast Kingdom Chamber awards. Bob is certified with Artic Cat as a Master Cat Mechanic and a service manager. George their main mechanic, is one of the select few mechanics in the country to achieve the highest level of certification with Arctic Cat, Gold Cat Master Mechanic. And Peggy has been nominated and accepted into the 2004 Register of Who's Who in Executives and Professionals. Kingdom Cat is registered with the state of Vermont as a snowmobile, ATV, boat and trailer dealer. Kingdom Cat continues to push the envelope of service excellence by offering service by world class mechanics who continuously attend service schools for all products lines and ensure that their knowledge is backed up by the tools and diagnostics requires to perform the job.
