- OCD or obsessive compulsive disorder is a mental illness where obsessive thoughts rule the person. On the one hand there is an obsession to think certain thoughts repetitively and on the other hand there is a compulsion to engage in repetitive behaviors. This relieves the distress to a certain extent. Depression is often associated with it as well. Treatment consists of behavior modification and in the earlier stages also of SSRI antidepressants, such as prozac and others.
