It is my pleasure to say "hello" to you for the first time. My name is Sandra Session-Robertson, and I am KSMQ's new President and CEO. Only on the job for a few days now, it doesn't take long to realize what a treasure this station is to the entire region. With a wealth of educating, enriching and entertaining local and national programs and outreach services, KSMQ is your one stop for unmatched cultural and educational nourishment.
I grew up on public television. I can remember watching Sesame Street in the mornings and retaining the concepts I had learned until my mom, who is an educator, arrived from home that evening. Clearly, those lessons had a real impact on my life.
As a viewer and member, I value programs such as Charlie Rose and Nova, Reading Rainbow, Frontline and BBC World News. It seems to me that despite the proliferation of new channels everyday, none of them stand up to the in-depth quality I get from these public television programs. For my ten cents a day - that's a $36 annual membership - I'm sticking with public television and KSMQ! It's the best bargain out there.
