- A quick story: When I was about 12 years of age I played trumpet in the school band. I was fairly good at it and the pianist at church asked me to play for the congregation; she would accompany me, on the old church piano. She played my intro and I started to play, but I was off key. Again, she gave me an intro and I blew my horn, the way the music was written, only to be forced to sit down in embarrassment.
