In the beginning of 1999, after the release of Age of Empires, a small group of AOE fans from Kazakhstan, such as L_Clan_ARBALET, L_Clan_MARKIZA, L_Clan_MARS, L_Clan_BOZMAN, L_Clan_ALEX and L_Clan_SAN_KZ, after some time playing it on LAN, decided to start playing it on-line, starting The Legion Clan. The Clan started with about 20 members, all of them from Kazakhstan. After hosting the first AoE Almaty Championship, in 1999, some other members joined, most of them from Almaty (Kazakhstan).
