About Labuan IBFC

The Labuan International Business And Financial Centre (IBFC) is an offshore financial hub located on the island of Labuan. Created on October 1990 by the Federal Government of Malaysia Labuan IBFC offers a wide range of offshore services regulated by the Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority (LOFSA).

Labuan IBFC was previously called the Labuan International Offshore Financial Centre (IOFC). In early 2008, the Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia (the Malaysian Central Bank) announced the change of name reflecting Labuan's increasing status as a regional business centre.

In line with the change of name Labuan IBFC Incorporated Sdn Bhd was established allowing a more concerted and targetted effort to promote the jurisdiction.

The five core areas that Labuan IBFC looks to build upon are offshore holding companies, captive insurance, Shariah-compliant Islamic finance structures, public and private funds and wealth management.
