Description

Excerpted from the website:

The Langhorne Cab Company is a 2nd generation family owned business located in the heart of Penndel since 1943. The company's owner, Robert "Spooly" Hutchinson, is now retired and has owned several cab companies in the Langhorne area. Born in Huntington, W. VA., he attended Marshall University to study architectural engineering. In 1933 Hutchinson met Earl Teter. The two of them formed the "Lucky Teter Hell Drivers." The two men grew to a crew of sixty, and had hubs in Atlanta, Indianapolis and last but not least Langhorne, at the Langhorne Speedway. They traveled as far as Cuba wowing audiences by flipping cars, jumping buses, leaping through the air on motorcycles and mastering precision driving skills. The Hell Drivers disbanded in 1943, when Teter's luck ran out. While attempting to jump two Greyhound buses, his car came down short at the landing ramp. The crash broke his neck and he was killed. Spooly came back to Langhorne to sell the vehicles at the Langhorne Speedway, where he worked as a mechanic. In 1943 he decided to stay in Langhorne and start the cab company in Penndel. Since his retirement at age 85, the company still practices the same values that Robert has practiced over the last 60 years. You will benefit from the experience, convenience and service our company has to offer.
