Lattice Semiconductor Corporation designs, develops and markets a range of semiconductor components called programmable logic devices (PLDs). Major examples of PLDs are Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), Complex PLDs and Simple PLDs, such as GALs or PALs. Unlike microprocessors or Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), which leave the factory hardwired to perform specific functions, programmable logic functionality is determined by the end customer, who programs the device to perform the task at hand.
