- The artists name is John Walker. Arts Editor’s review arrived in my email this morning. They promised something changed. I like the word changed. Too often the art world goes for ’shocking’, ‘unique’, ‘penetrating’, or ‘revealing’. Too often these words are synonyms for ‘offensive’, ‘cheap shots’ or just plain ‘gross’. The word ‘changed’ has softer possibilities. Possibilities that rely on gentle reflection more than in-your-face visual stunts. The review revealed that the artist has done just that. He has given us metaphors for age and change, at a very small personal, reflective scale.
