Description
David Schmidt was born in San Diego, California, in 1959, at which time there were approximately 12 temples in operation. After serving an LDS mission to Germany, he moved to Salt Lake City to continue his education where he studied architecture and became fascinated with temple designs.
His love of art began at the age of 12, at which point his mother decided to enroll him in an oil painting class to try and cultivate the talents that she thought he had; but he quickly found out that working with oils was a long process for a person with very little patience, like himself.
Once he entered High School he was introduced to the acrylic world of mediums and decided he could paint more quickly than he could with oils. But acrylics alone couldn't capture the look that he was striving for. Now; in most of his paintings he combines both mediums to create a unique blend of texture and color.
