This site was originally started to help promote SaveTheLight.org, a local non-profit group trying to save the Morris Island Lighthouse off Folly Beach at the entrance to the harbor of Charleston, South Carolina. There has been a navigational light (of one type or another) present on Morris Island dating all the way back to 1673.
