Description

Linda Hudson-Smith has traveled the world as an enthusiastic witness to other cultures and lifestyles. Born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, and raised in the town of Washington, PA, Hudson-Smith is a 1968 graduate of Washington High School. She pursued business education at Duff's Business Institute in Pittsburgh and held administrative positions in Public Relations and Marketing.

Married to a career Air Force meteorologist, she turned to romance novels for encouragement and entertainment during periods of separation from her husband. It was after illness forced her to leave a marketing and public relations administration career that she turned to writing. She has found that writing helps her through Systemic Lupus, a debilitating illness.

Linda attempted to pen her first romance novel, "Soulful Serenade", in 1993. She began to consider herself a writer when three chapters and a synopsis of her first manuscript submission, "Ice Under Fire", went from unsolicited to solicited. The "Ice Under Fire" debut Arabesque novel, has received rave reviews and won the 2000 Gold Pen Award. Romance in Color chose her as Rising Star for the month of January 2000. She has been featured in Publishers Weekly, July 2000, USA Today, February 2001, and ESSENCE Magazine, June 2001. Voted as Best New Author, Black Writers Alliance presented Linda with the 2000 Gold Pen Award.
