LinkFarm

To mark a webpage as a link farm insert the following template: {{LinkFarm}}.

A link farm is any group of Websites where all the members of the group link to each other. Link farms typically do not link out to other Websites as their links are intended to help each other member in the group.

Although there are many non-standard uses for the term "link farm" the expression was coined by members of the Search Engine Forums in 1999 who created the first link farm, which was a cooperative effort also known as "Buddy Links".

Link farms were originally created to help link-poor sites stay in the main Inktomi index, which was rebuilt on a monthly basis. After Google became popular and people learned that Google allowed links to pass their anchor text to other documents, link farms were modified to assist with anchor text.

Link farms are frowned upon by search engines. They do not in fact increase traffic.
