Lockerly Arboretum is a private, nonprofit educational support facility designed to enhance the cultural and aesthetic life of this area. Comprising approximately fifty acres, it is located just above the fall line in Milledgeville. It lies along the east side of Business Highway 441 South, just outside the limits of the city.
Lockerly Arboretum is a horticultural laboratory rather than a “showplace garden.” There is no charge for admission to the arboretum grounds, which are open to students, garden clubs, and the general public. Lockerly Hall is opened for tours on Mondays, through the Milledgeville Convention & Visitors Bureau. Groups interested in botany, landscape gardening, horticulture, and ecology, may, by pre-arrangement, be provided with additional educational programming.
