Lone Prairie Art Works is located a few miles from Hampden, North Dakota. Set in the middle of the "pothole region", sloughs and ponds filled with ducks and wetland wildlife are a source of inspiration and relaxation during the spring and summer months. The winter brings an entirely new and austere landscape to the prairie, also a source of inspiration. This is a fancy and poetic way of saying it's pretty and I like it in North Dakota. Please don't make North Dakota jokes.
What is Lone Prairie Art Works?
Based out of a rural farm home, Lone Prairie Art Works specializes in creating unique art and other products as well as entering into the publishing arena with a few books, including the new "Bob" series. Lone Prairie Art Works is, well, me. It's just me - me me me me me me - Julie R. Neidlinger, working away at one project at a time. Everything is handmade, and everything is sent out from the small local post office in Hampden. There's no automation, no machines, no staff. From beginning to end, I handle your order, create it, correspond with you, and send it out. If you get irate and angry with Lone Prairie Art Works, you're actually making me cry, directly. Not the staff. Me. Cry.
In the movies, artists have huge loft apartments in New York City, usually in old warehous districts. Lots of glass, lots of life, and generally, an over abundance of cool. Huh. I would have no idea. My work/living space is in a farmhouse in North Dakota, with some bad paneling and few windows. And yet I am able to live. Amazing. (see my "studio")
