Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps officer with an advanced LLM (equivalent) degree from the Judge Advocate General’s Law School at the University of Virginia. He has practiced law in Louisiana, Washington D.C., Europe, and Asia. He practiced with the New Orleans firm of Hulse and Wanek until being appointed by the Governor as the Executive Director, Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs. He is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association and was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1979. In his 30 years of law practice, he served as Legal Advisor at Walter Reed Medical Center, Washington, D.C., District Attorney in Europe supervising a 93-member legal staff, Legal Advisor to the Asian Region of the Criminal Investigations Division (CID), and Litigated over 1,000 trials (200+ jury trials.) His primary areas of legal experience are: Litigation, Personal Injury and Civil Damages, Medical Law and Medical Malpractice, Employment Law, Successions and Community Property, Environment Law, and Contract Law. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (1987,) Graduate of the Judge Advocate General’s Judges Course (1979) and served with the US Army Judiciary in Washington, D.C. He graduated from the Department of Justice (DOJ) Administrative Law Judges training (1992.) He lectured throughout the State, U.S., Asia, and Europe.
