Love Trucker

On a singular mission to change the musical landscape of American rock and roll

Every once in a while, you'll hear a band and know it's destined for phenomenal success. Love Trucker is that band!

Playing old-style rhythm and blues with a fresh, young spin, Love Trucker has perfected a sound that's inspired, vibrant and oh, so appealing.

Members Gabriel Averre -- bass, vocals and keyboard -- and Matthew Paige --guitar and vocals -- met at a performing-arts high school in Vancouver, Washington. Inspired by the same musical influences, they soon found their jam sessions sparked a big bang of musical chemistry. But they needed a drummer...

Chris Merrill auditioned in 2007, though the band was cautioned by friends to reject Chris' talents if he played double kick drums, listened to Rush, or named Rush drummer, Neil Peart as his source of inspiration. To the band's dismay and delight, Chris blew their minds with inspired playing of Rush tunes on double kick drums. He was hired on the spot.

Next on board was guitarist Zach Whiton who joined the band in 2008 after the trio witnessed his stellar set on a shared bill.

The band members seemed destined to meet -- after all, they'd been orbiting the same solar system of local music. In addition to Love Trucker, several of the members play in side projects with established bands such as:

  • Throwback Suburbia (3dc37fd9b532625f5f7524c0ffe1d732.png: [}}} MySpace])

It was artist, band mentor and former high school teacher Christopher McKinney who coined the name "Love Trucker" while Gabe and Matthew were still his students. "The moniker made us laugh," says Matthew. "We had to keep it!"

The newly formed band teamed up to record a five-song demo. The result is their impressive 'Mother Nature' EP, a collaboration of robust, up-tempo guitar-driven songs, offset by ballads that linger on the mind.
