Housing Registry Network - Home
The Housing Registry Network (HRN) is a user friendly website that provides people at risk of becoming or remaining homeless, the means to access a varied inventory of low cost rental housing and resources citywide. It also provides a free opportunity for people with space to rent to list their housing options on the network. It is distinguished from other housing registries by its listing of housing options for specialized groups and for its agency compendium.
Originally a pilot project under the direction of the Calgary Homeless Foundation (CHF), the HRN has been championed by a multi-sectoral advisory group representing families, aboriginal people, seniors, people with mental and physical illness, youth, women and children. In 2003, this group recommended to the CHF that an appropriate agency be given the opportunity to operate the project in partnership with the CHF until such time that organization will take sole responsibility of the HRN. In April 2005 a dual operator’s model of ownership began with the CHF and CUPS Community Health Centre. After December 2005, the HRN will be the sole responsibility of CUPS.
The Housing Registry Network provides users with links to many service agencies in Calgary and area. Information is provided for crisis situations, short term emergency support, as well as links to vital agencies supporting aboriginal people, youth, persons with disabilities, seniors, addictions, mental health, ex-offenders, students and new Canadians. If you are in need of assistance, please visit the website at www.lowcostrent.org for information to contact the necessary support organizations.
