The Lucknow Sports Journalists Association was formed through the efforts of late Kabir Shah, renowned sports journalist and hockey commentator, and Alex Chandy, sports editor of The Times of India. in 1990. During the early late 80s, there was a purt in both sporting activities in the state and introduction of national and vernacular newspapers in the city.
