London Ashford Airport - Offering Airlines, Passengers, Visitors the right services and location.
Description edit
"Join in our vision for London Ashford Airport, the logical choice for aviation in the South-East" Zaher Deir LAA Managing Director.
Lydd Airport was constructed in 1954 as the cross channel departure point for car ferry services. It enjoyed strong levels of traffic through the fifties and sixties (it was busier than Gatwick for a number of years) but competition from roll-on roll-off sea ferries saw its decline in the early seventies. Dan Air retained an operational base for many years due to the airports superb weather record and operated Channel Islands, Beauvais and other European routes.
Lydd Airport today is operated by London Ashford Airport Ltd., a commercially orientated company with wide ranging aviation experience. Located in the UK's largest county the future development of the airport is taking place in line with central, county and local government policy.
Kent has always been the UK's gateway county with four major motorways and seven ports reflecting our trading patterns with Europe. Regional aircraft operators can today enjoy the benefits offered by smaller airports with runway capacity available, reduced delays and fast check in times.
