It started as a vacation...and became a vocation. When you live in Alaska and deal with the cold and snow for 6 - 8 months of the year, the concept of a tiny piece of land somewhere warm where you can garden in the winter sounds extremely attractive. Little did we believe that this small idea would balloon into a 20 acre macadamia nut orchard. Now who has time for a garden?
Tombo Farms is a macadamia nut farm on the big island of Hawaii, about 22 miles south of Hilo. There are currently 1000 macadamia nut trees in production and 45 beehives to assist in producing high quality nuts and honey.
The exquisite taste and high quality of the nuts in this particular area is due to the unique blend of rainfall and sunshine as well as the loving care the trees receive from us, their caretakers.
