Through an accident of history, I grew up around computers and happened to be a freshman in 1984 at Reed College the same year the Macintosh was introduced. I learned the basics of desktop publishing and over the years have watched the Macintosh grow and develop as other operating systems have come and gone.
After trading a pickup and camper for my first Macintosh in 1989, I went on to join the Teach for America national teachers corps, entering education where low budgets and little support are the order of the day.
