Macy.com redirects to either an ad or a blank page

Macy.com - not a proper website

If you try to visit Macy.com, the url seems to go through various redirects before it ends up on an ad page. The website seems to be using your ip address to find out your location and offer you an ad that might interest you. If you try to reach the website through a proxy, however, the site ends up on a blank page.

Archive.org shows that the website was registered in 1998 though it was hardly ever used as a proper website. In the 2005 version, however, the main page states that the site is being used by Netidentity that "owns over 15,000 popular surname-based domain names and allows anyone to use them for email and website addresses."
