Many years ago Captain Budd and his family started a small retail business in up-state Pennsylvania. His brothers and the Captain were meticulous about customer service. The business grew and flourished because everyone knew that the Budd's were honest business operators. The tradition has continued down through the generations. Harold and Fran Budd have continued the tradition of the family business, by insisting on honesty and superb service. The family members left the retail tradition for several years. Many were ministers, teachers, and lawyers. Harold Budd, several generations down the line, went into the restaurant and package store business in New Jersey. He continued the tradition of excellent service and fair price that had been the trade mark of the family retail businesses in previous years. After Fran and Harold were married (more years than Harold cares to remember) they started a liquor store which had the emphasis on fine wines, fine liquors and all of the storage systems and accessories necessary to store and enjoy the wine. From that beginning, came about the web site which offers all types of storage systems and accessories for wine and wine enjoyment. Since Bud, as he is called, still enjoys the food end we have also added a gourmet section of items that are hard to find to make your time in the kitchen pleasurable. Several years ago, Harold Budd suffered a massive stroke which forced him to sell the liquor store as he was instructed to curtail his hours. Fortunately, many of his faculties returned so we kept the wine storage and accessory portion of the store in tact. We did, however, move it to the same little town in Pennsylvania where everything had started generations ago.
Now that you know the gory details of how it started, the two ugly people on the left are Harold and Fran Budd. We are a small operation and plan to stay that way so that we can offer each and every one of our customers individual, personalized service. One of us always takes the order, processes the order and follows through to make sure that you are satisfied with your purchase and the quality of the merchandise you received. There are several ways to contact us and all of that information is listed on the Contact Us page. Most of the time you will talk to Fran as Bud doesn't like to talk on the phone anymore. If by chance you do get Bud, be nice, he tries. Don't tell him it is a courtesy call, or he will hang right up! Also try to understand that life in this little town is much slower paced than we have been used to. You might get an answer machine once in a while, but we will call you right back. It might take a little longer to call back if it is fishing or barbeque season. In warm weather and we just sit on the back stoop with a beer swapping stupidity with the neighbor over the fence. Really kind of nice, if you care to join us, come on.
Many people have asked how we do it all and carry as many products. The answer is fairly simple. Since we have been in this business for over 30 years, we have contacts with many manufacturers and set up agreements with several large distributors around the globe. We have agreements with several companies to purchase inventory with them. By combining our purchasing power with other companies we can both keep our prices to a minimum. Also by doing this, we can maintain inventories and ship together. We utilize a warehouse in New York, Texas and several manufacturers that ship directly for us. The only unfortunate part of this arrangement is that our name is not usually placed on the package, but rather the name of the shipping warehouse in case it is lost or returned. We, however, are the ones responsible to you and will see that what your order is shipped and received in excellent condition.
