Merino sheep are known throughout the world for their high quality fleece. Merino sheep are bred and raised here in Maine's quiet countryside. Our sheep graze in pleasant pastures, in which there is an abundance of fresh air, clean water, and healthy food. Due to the fleece's natural crimp, our Merino wool is resilient, a characteristic which will enhance your knitting. There are numerous advantages to knitting with our Merino wool. The yarn's elasticity makes it strong and durable. Your hand-knitted Merino wool garments will wear well, hold their shape, and keep you warm in chilly weather. Maine Merino wool is as fine and soft as cashmere. It is an ideal choice for knitting throws, sweaters, vests, hats, scarves, shawls, mittens, and especially baby clothes.

Here are two of the new arrivals from our flock following Mom with Dad and many aunts. Merino sheep are medium-sized with rams weighing between 175 and 235 pounds and ewes between 135 and 180 pounds.
