- Moroccan Transport Minister, Karim Ghellab denied, here Tuesday allegations that the Morocco's national flag-carrier Royal Air Maroc had issued a notice preventing employees from performing prayers at RAM headquarters.
Algerian government should start with the Kbyle region for self-determination rather than polisario !
The polisario, protected by Algeria, flouts the most basic human rights, among which is the right of refugees to decide freely about returning to their home in the Sahara.
For more than 24 years, the polisario detains as refuges- and against their will- a great number of sahraouis, in fact, this makes them “ professional refugees” for reasons having to do with propaganda, collecting humanitarian aid ( a part of which it embezzles), and with using them as a pressuring card and blackmailing means before the international
community. It subjects them to a dictatorial and tight surveillance, denies them freedom of speech and movement, and forbids them- lest they are the object of reprisals- to attempt to adhere to an ideology other than its own. The self declared republic is built on top of a population that has no civilian rights, they use the population there as a bargaining chip to put pressure on Europe and international organizations in order to build a case against Morocco’s clear and obvious legitimate rights to the land. If any group of people that succeeds in holding up 50,000 men and women decides to create a republic, we will have about 600,000 members of the UN, if we apply the same pressure on others countries with similar properties, the world will experience over 200 wars at the same time. What made the polisario so special is not their “legitimate case”, which is far from being legitimate; it is the work of the Warsaw block and the militant propaganda Algeria spread during that time against Morocco for its good relations with the west.
The polisario gives to international organizations the number of 165.000 refugees while their number actually does not go beyond 50.000 (and this figure includes their armed forces).
For more than 20 years, the polisario received from international organizations and various charitable circle assistance aid for 165.000 people while it has only 50.000. The left-over aid is either embezzled or converted into money for their accounts. This explains why they restrict the movement of the population to hold on forcefully to a number that allows them to receive humanitarian aid and political support. However the people in the camps are fed up and they started to flock to Morocco, just the other day 280 Moroccan Sahraouis joined the Kingdom escaping the collective imprisonment that the polisario and Algeria imposed on them. Before the escapees were high ranking officials, now the average Sahraoui can not take it anymore and he / she risks being shot at by the polisario and by the Algerian army as it was case many times, this Algerian army that claims to “protect” the Sahraouis. The sad irony is that Algeria did everything to make the life of the Sahraouis as miserable as possible while claiming that it looks out for them; it supports a regime that tortures them, it finances a conflict that separated them form the loved ones and it keeps them locked up in the camps with no regards to their human rights, compared to the Sahraouis living in the kingdom who can move freely throughout Morocco and even abroad.
Morocco has not ceased to appeal to the international community, and in particular the United Nations High commissariat for Refugees (UNHCR),calling it to endeavor for a speedy repatriation of the refugees in order to remove them from the agonizing situation in which they live daily while under the yoke of the polisario.
Algeria, the country on the territory of which those refugees are detained against their will, shoulders a clear responsibility in this regard. It must only allow the HCR to do its job of establishing an exact count of the refugees, but equally to put an end to the protection it of the offers to the “thugs” of the polisario and bring them to cease the intimidation which they regularly perpetrate against the populations of the Tindouf camps.
The Algerian ideology is totally over played and it became a cliché, no one believes, genuinely, the motto of the Algerian government “helping people attain their self-determination” it is ironic that Algerian government always helps others rather than its own people… self-determination is a case that is hot in the Kbyle region with, NOT 50,000 but 6 million people! The Algerian government truly suffers from (MPD) Multiple Personality Disorder, on one hand they want to group the Maghreb Arab under one strong entity, economical or political and of course of its own population to be united under the Algerian flag while it promotes division of the kingdom of Morocco starting with the Sahara.
To recap this idea, The Algerian government wishes to,
1/ divide Morocco 2/unite the divided Morocco with the Great Maghreb Arab! None sense.
The Algerian government, after it recovers from its MPD, will perhaps realize that the two elephants in the room are, the internal civil war and the Kbyle region which is ready to be an independent country larger than many Arab countries and with sizable economy and a sizable population. If the Algerian government wants to promote the “right to self determination” it should start there first then perhaps look for others to “help”.
