The Mason City School District, a community of 38,534 residents in the City of Mason and parts of Deerfield Township, is 25 miles northeast of Cincinnati, owes its high-tech development to its strategic location. Industry in Mason attracted more than 909 new home builders and their families in 1998. Mason residents are typically upper-middle class college graduates who have professional positions. With nearby interchanges on I-71, I-75 and I-275, Mason is within easy driving distance of Cincinnati and Dayton.

Mason School District is an "Excellent" district, and has been for six consecutive administrations of the Ohio Report Card. The district earned 18 out of 18 standards on the State's 2003-04 Report Card. It ranks seventh in the state (of 613 districts) for overall student test scores. Four of its six schools boast national Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence awards. Mason Early Childhood Center has earned National Association of Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation.

Mason School District currently has three elementary schools, an intermediate campus (4-6), a middle school (7-8) and Mason High School (9-12). Mason High School is a four-year public high school accredited by the North Central Association. In September 2002, the district opened a new Mason High School for grades 9-12. Western Row Elementary houses grades 2 and 3. Mason Heights houses grades 1 and 2. The district is currently building a new MECC to open in 2006.
