Hema Kundargi loves to cook and developed a passion for cooking under the firm guidance of her talented mother. She is the producer, editor and host of a cooking show, dedicated to show the fine nuances of Indian cuisine, called as “Indian Vegetarian Gourmet”. The show is aired through Cupertino Public access and De Anza education channel to 14 cities in the Bay area. Her show has won the WAVE (western access video excellence award. This contest spans nine states on the west coast) award for 1998 and 1999. Her recipes have won awards in AT&T Indian recipe contest. She also has written about Indian cooking in San Jose Mercury, Los Angeles Times, Sunset magazine, local Indian newspaper-India west, national Indian magazine-Veerashaiva. She teaches classes at the prestigious, ‘Draegers culinary Institute’
In her cooking shows, news & magazine articles and classes she simplifies Indian cuisine and aims to remove the myths and mysteries associated with it.
Hema Kundargi is appointed as the Fine Arts Commissioner of Cupertino and strives to promote children’s art in the city.
