- Genna and I were a bit surprised by the curious reactions we saw when we told people that we were going to Germany and Austria for a week of vacation. I suppose it doesn’t conjure up the image of your typical relaxing vacation, but for us, a chance to spend our days hiking the German and Austrian Alps, strolling through quaint mountain villages, and seeing where both of our families once lived is a pretty exciting way to escape our busy fall schedules at home. Already, our experiences exceeded every expectation that we had.
