Title

A fine art gallery specializing in the beauty of Nature--in paintings, giclees and prints--the McCarter Gallery is located in the heart of charming historic Hendersonville, NC just south of Asheville

Description

The ethereal beauty and spiritual inspiration of the Blue Ridge and Great Smokey Mountains have often drawn poets and artists, naturalists and musicians, and seekers of peace and truth. It was for these unique qualities that Alan and his artist wife, Robbin, left their other careers behind and moved to the North Carolina mountains to become full-time artists. The gentle yet exalted beauty of the region has enriched, uplifted, and transformed their lives forever. Their purpose in art is to find and glorify the divine in Nature, to share this vision with others, and to thereby uplift the human spirit to a realm of beauty and goodness.

Alan R. McCarter's style is soft idealized, romantic realism, using acrylic in a rich, classic technique. He paints majestic panoramic mountains, light and movement in streams and waterfalls, and woodland interiors. These more eternal qualities of the beautiful in Nature convey an uplifting sense of peace, meaning and purpose.

Alan was raised in Easthampton, Long Island, New York, in the former home of American impressionist Childe Hassam, in a resort long known for the arts. He is primarily self-taught in art, and has been painting nature since the 1970's. Alan has a BA from Lowell University and a diploma from the Art Restoration Technical Institute in New York.
