The mission of Mobile County Public schools is to produce a literate, life-long learner who is a visionary and productive, aware of self, accepting of cultural differences, sensitive to others and who applies knowledge to make morally responsible decisions in an ever changing global society.
Our Central Office is located in the downtown area of Historic Mobile on Government Street. Barton Academy houses the Central Office Staff, a building built nearly 200 years ago, and was the first public school in Alabama. Barton Academy served as a public school until the 1960's and then was turned completely over to growing Central Office Staff.
