Two weeks after a devastating earthquake, Mercy Corps emergency workers remain on the ground in devastated rural areas of Indonesia, helping survivors meet ongoing shelter, hygiene and other critical needs. Our team is also gearing up to help local families with massive rebuilding efforts.
The powerful 6.3 magnitude Java Earthquake killed at least 6,200 people and left up to 600,000 homeless. Families lost everything in seconds, and are now faced with the daunting prospect of having to rebuild their homes and lives.
Over the last several years, Mercy Corps has helped more than 1,000,000 Indonesians recover from loss - and we will keep working with survivors long after the headlines fade.
