- My name is Patricia Walsh. I have been sewing since my teens. When I was expecting my first child, eighteen years ago, I became interested in smocking and french handsewing. In 1987 I began constructing smock and wear garments for Denham Designs. In 1990 Kathryn Denham discovered she had terminal cancer. She was 38 years old. Denham Designs was split into two companies and thus Meredith's Closet was born. I employ a number of seamstresses and smockers and still sew certain things myself. I send trunk shows around the country where people can try various sizes and styles on their children. They can then purchase directly from the show or order whatever they choose. Some will smock themselves and some will order the garments smocked.
