The layer of the earth's atmosphere where the wind is affected by friction from the surface of the earth is called the boundary layer.
These web pages are designed to help teachers and pupils by extending their knowledge of weather and climate - in the UK and around the world. This is achieved through the provision of dedicated activities and learning materials for students and teachers throughout all levels of education. All the resources are based around the requirements of the national curriculum
The secondary section of the learning centre has recently had a significant update. New topics, including climate change, tornadoes and lapse rates have been added to compliment the topics already covered. Existing content has been updated and new animated diagrams, colour photographs and satellite imagery have been added to enhance the learning experience. Check it out!
